Meet the Rising Demand

Accounting is a fast-paced field with a bright future. However, with various laws, rules, and regulations, it can be difficult to meet the requirements for CPA* licensure from only completing a bachelor's degree. The increased demand for highly technical financial accounting professionals has also changed the industry's hiring criteria, which can make landing and progressing in interviews more difficult.

To meet (and exceed) these expectations, the classes within our online Master's in Accounting program are designed to address the needs of modern accounting professionals and facilitate the creative application of knowledge. Students will learn standard accounting software, master advanced accounting principles and develop an understanding of new trends in FinTech—and what they mean for the future.

Program Takeaways

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Master of Accounting (MAcc) and a Master of Science in Accounting (MSA)?

Generally speaking, a MAcc degree isn’t drastically different from a Master of Science in Accounting. Courses for both will usually give a broad overview of different accounting careers and specialties, such as government and forensic accounting. However, the two can differ when you take a closer look at the core curriculum, required semester hours and elective opportunities. For example, the Yeshiva University online MSA is specifically designed to help you fulfill your credit hours for the CPA exam, and electives are primarily focused on different accounting concentrations.

Do I need an accounting background to apply?

While a lot of undergraduate accounting students tend to enroll in the program, an accounting background is not required. In fact, by having only one accounting prerequisite—Introduction to Management Accounting or its equivalent—this degree is ideal for non-accounting business majors who would like to pursue their CPA.

Is the GMAT or GRE required for admission to the program?

For prospective students applying during the 2022-2023 school year, the GRE/GMAT testing requirement has been temporarily waived. Please check the Admissions page for the most up-to-date information.
