What we've tried to do at Syms is use the technology to optimize the learning process. There's some great, great things you can do with technology that you just can't do in person like allowing people to be self-paced. Allowing really broad amount of resources to be available to students so they can not limit how much they want to learn, but at least understand what the essential things they need to lead.

So some of the key things about our online graduate programs is that it puts choice fully in your hands. You can participate from whatever part of the world you want to be in, but you're also going to be able to build your network. Be able to have a lot of people you're going to be able to meet that'll be able to be the foundation of the network you're going to be able to find jobs with and then be able to leverage it.

I loved remote school. It made it a lot easier to deal with commuting and my children actually took part in my classes since they were always with me in. My house we like to say that a Yeshiva University degree is three for the price of one because I got in on the class but my husband and daughter were always there listening.

I was looking for a program that would help me to enhance my business skills. I wanted to be able to sit in a room with my senior leadership team, and I wanted to be able to add value to those conversations. I was talking to my girlfriend and she was like, why don't you try Yeshiva? You have esteemed faculty. But what stood out most was the flexibility. So I'm actually a single parent, and with juggling a full-time career, it was that work-life balance. That's ultimately why I selected Yeshiva University.
Being remote, there was always a group project. There was always a case application that you had to go on. There were PowerPoint presentations, you had homework assignments. So it was actually very robust. You just had to be disciplined with each class. You learned about leadership, you learned about financial data, you learned about financial management, you learned about risk, you learned about governance. At Yeshiva University, I was afforded so many opportunities. I've worked with a lot of great faculty. You may network with someone and that's your future job, and you can be there for 10 years. So what I say is to anyone be hungry and you know, chase after it, I did it. The program has ended, but my career is taking on a new direction. Now that I have the financial skill set and I have the employee skills, I'm ready to look for a more senior level opportunity to have your child see you walk across the stage.
There's nothing better. I've wanted an MBA for a really, really long time, and I think in that moment it's a celebration of you and your family and those that really support you. So for my older parents, it's manageable and it's doable and it rejuvenates you and it gives you a new sense of life and fulfillment.
